Happy New Year, everyone.

After a chaotic eight months here, notable in the increasing distraction from business by personal issues, we're getting back on track.

Anticipate seeing at least one new case-a less expensive aluminum one--coming on line shortly, and you can look forward to new product rollouts in a number of case accessories.

The e-mail backlog should be cleaned up in the next week or so, so don't hesitate to e-mail or call if you have any questions.

We are now a database-driven site.

Although it won't appear to have changed much now, I finally have a solution for updating promptly and for putting up new products and packages.

We've shipped numerous editing workstations over the last few months. Those of you needing space with numerous harddrives and a quiet workstation setup can consider a Chenbro Doublewide (NET, ECHO, or ULTRA) with modifications for a quiet fan setup, including fan control for four zones....

NEW CHENBRO MODELs are coming this fall. I'll sample them ASAP and sort out mods for them as well.

On Thursday, we rolled the entire e-mail system over to the new workstation. And, John has got at least the basic interface in place that starts making it possible to do timely updates for the site as well as move to a database-driven design. Large parts of new catalog files are being completed as well--so stay tuned. For those of you patiently or impatiently awating e-mail responses, they should now start rolling out. The backlog in shipping is nearly done; all that is in the queue are the double-wide cases with controllers--wiring. Jim H.

The new site is launched. We've brought this stage of the site development to a point where it looks like it's ready to go up.

Over the next few days there will still be significant rewriting of the details files. Hopefully, these will make them more usable for buyers of all levels.  Until these files are finished, you may find minor inconsistencies in some data.

Our commitment to providing you with custom case purchases remains unchanged.  Those of you who have bought from us by e-mail know that we try to provide support that will enable you to make an intelligent case hardware purchase.  We are still trying to sort out a configurator that will provide truly flexible ordering for you from the storefront, and that should be available in the not-too-distant future. Orders come into here by e-mail, and all CC & PayPal processing will be done manually for now.

For now, I encourage you to e-mail me for a quote if you do not find a configuration you want in the storefront. We're hoping that this storefront will make our products available to a wider market and take some of the e-mail burden off both you and us through the use of a simpler buying process.

Thank you for your past and current business.  As always, if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail.  The only dumb question is the unanswered one.

The story of Coolcases.com

Coolcases.com is the business side of Jim Hanson, a self-employed OWM.  That statement alone should tell you that this is a 'small business' and not a corporate retail operation now involved with the latest marketing techniques.

In the Nineties, I was the proverbial SO support person Nineties who also provided his customer's computer hardware.  It was after a day of cursing a customer's Enlight AT case that left my hands scraped and bleeding that I knew something better in cases had to be available.  When the overclocking craze hit with the Celeron 300A I saw the opportunity to do something that ties most of my skills and interests together-- and the result is coolcases.com.

As you may know, I started selling these cases by e-mail and word-of-mouth referrals out of the forums in May of 1999, and about November of 2000 we finally got the 'placemarker' site up that you have seen for so long.  Now we have implemented the new site with much more reference information and true on-line purchasing. And I am finally changing those procedures to become a more typical internet-based business.

Being self-employed, I am incorporated--so you can say that coolcases.com is a 'dba'(Doing Business As) for Program Development, Inc.-- although that is not strictly accurate. I prefer earning money in a small business structure, and I simply follow my lawyer's and accountant's advice in such matters.   Coolcases.com will probably always be a true small business, with only a few employees other than me, and it will probably remain me that you mostly deal with.

I have done various careers in my life--I started out as a High School English teacher; have been a home builder/remodeling contractor, became a computer nut in '81 when I purchased a Bell & Howell ][+. This venture seems to me to tie together the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that I have developed thus far, and it looks like it's here to stay.
