mATX cases: Enlight 7602
OVERVIEW: We finally found a suitable performance case for micro ATX motherboards! With the advent of mATX 533 and 800 FSB motherboards that match up with the high-performance P4s being sold, you can now get a well-cooled case for these systems. The Enlight 7602 comes in both black and beige and can be suitably modified for cooling performance. And, since it only weighs about 18lbs, portability is definitly an option
Both the beige and black versions have a two-piece stand-off silver bezel accent. That lower circle is actually the power button, and the built-in USB 2.0 ports are found on the left edge of the bezel. The bezel itself is easily removable with a quick pull out at the bottom, and the fingergrip there provides an adequate intake. There's no filter for the lower front 80/90 fan mount (not surprising in a case at this price level); the backboard fan mount allows for either an 80 or 90 fan installation. As shipped from our distributor, the 7602 comes with an AGI-300w PS and has a Sunon 90 3-pin fan installed in the backboard. This 'factory pack' version is sold with the PS. Modified cases are available as 'barebone' versions as well as cases complete and ready to go with fans, filters, guards, windows--and even a handle for portability!
That eccentric location for the USB ports, in the left bezel edge, is a plus for the cooling enthusiast--the port location there, instead of the typical bottom lower front, is what enables the 120 intake fan mod. The generous width (generous in mATX cases, that is) and the removable 3-bay 3.5 cage cage allow the builder to set up the drive column easily--and the bottom 3.5 mount has a vented bottom, thus picking up cooling from the intake fan. However, more can be done...much more.

Modified
cases are sold without the factory pack power supply and fan--and the
range of modifications available is extensive. As a starting
point, you can build this case for standard desktop use with
the lower front 120 and backboard punches, add an intake filter, and
install JMC and Panaflo fans running at 7v. for a super-quiet setup.
At all modification levels, two-wire fans may be wired for 7v operation
at no additional charge.
A second level of performance for complete case flow puts a 92 intake fan in the lower right front and adds a port in the backboard by the PCI slots.
The third performance level replaces the backboard PCI port with a 92 or 120 fan mount installed over the CPU/AGP location (Mods 3B), or a 92 exhaust fan in the left side near the back/PCI slots (Mods 3A).

Want a handle? Here's a detail view of the recessed handle in the case top. There is a price to the handle, however---it limits you to using a a smaller device in the top 5.25--it's a good location for a fan control device, or for a MFP.
Want a window? The first window to be offered is a 9" round one--and that can be combined with the level 1 or level 2 mods. The second window is a 9" round with a integral 92 mount over the CPU/AGP slots, and is combined with the Left Side Front 92 intake fan to provide level Three performance.

COMMENTS: Here's a gamer's box--or any person needing high powered cooling performance for the CPU and AGU. The fans are running at both 12v and 7v for a flow through of about 200cfm with a quiet PS fan. While this case is not noisy, there is noticable white noise from the airflow. Users needing cooling for hot cards in the slots--say a hi-end sound card might do as well to order Mods 3A--that version uses a 92 exhaust fan by the PCI slots and not a 120 over the CPU/AGU area. |
